RAINY RIVER – Riverside Health Care has declared the COVID-19 outbreak at Rainy River Health Centre to be over.

In conjunction with the Northwestern Health Unit, Riverside declared a COVID outbreak at the Rainy River hospital on July 29.

A news release Saturday said the outbreak has ended and visitor restrictions have been lifted.

Still, the hospital and long-term care home in Rainy River remain “mask-friendly” and “we continue to ask that any individual experiencing symptoms of illness refrain from visiting,” Riverside stated in the news release.

Visitors and staff are asked “to be diligent in always preventing the spread of infection” by, for example, washing their hands and practising good cough etiquette.

Riverside, based in Fort Frances, operates the Rainy River hospital as well as La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances and other facilities in the region.
