NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO -- Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for parts of the region.
The government weather agency says a low pressure system developing over Colorado is expected to bring significant rainfall amounts to portions of northwestern Ontario beginning Friday night through Saturday night.
Total rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 millimetres are possible by the time rain tapers to showers Sunday morning.
The frozen ground has reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.
Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks.
A special weather statement has been issued for the Dryden - Vermilion Bay area stating the low pressure system developing over Colorado could bring significant rainfall amounts to the area beginning Saturday.
Environment Canada says a warning may be issued as the event draws nearer.

- Fort Frances - Emo - Rainy River
- Kenora - Grassy Narrows - Whitedog
- Sioux Narrows - Nestor Falls - Morson
- Red Lake - Woodland Caribou Park
