Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning covering a large swathe of Northwestern Ontario.

The agency called for rainfall amounts of 60 to 80 millimetres for areas including Kenora, Dryden, Fort Frances, and Atikokan.

That will come in the form of a “long episode” of sometimes heavy rain expected to begin early Thursday morning, and expected to end Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Environment Canada said the precipitation comes as a slow-moving low pressure system moves across the region.

“The track of the system is still uncertain and it is possible that the expected rainfall amounts could change,” the agency noted.
