Outdoor burning will be restricted across Northern Ontario as parts of the region are considered to be under high or extreme wildfire risk.
The Ministry of Natural Resources on Wednesday announced that will be implementing a restricted fire zone for the Northwest and Northeast regions, taking effect on Thursday.
Some municipalities, including Kenora and Fort Frances, had announced that they would be implementing fire bans.
The municipal fire bans apply to all open-air fires, including camp fires, fire pits, grass and brush burning, and cook stoves that use solid fuels like wood or charcoal. Cooking grills and appliances with a mechanical shutoff will remain permitted.
Atikokan implemented the same restrictions on Tuesday.
