FORT FRANCES — Production has resumed at New Gold Inc.'s Rainy River mine northwest of Fort Frances.

The company suspended operations on July 24 after a mine worker, Jeff Woolsey, was killed when he was struck by falling material while operating equipment in the open pit mine.

Investigations into the incident continue.

In a statement Monday, New Gold said the thoughts of management remain with the family, friends and colleagues who have been impacted by the tragedy.

It said mining operations safely resumed on Saturday, as no other equipment or site infrastructure was affected by the incident.
