THUNDER BAY – The observational skill of an OPP officer in Sioux Lookout led to drug trafficking charges being laid against a 33-year-old woman from Sachigo Lake First Nation.

Police, in a release issued on Monday, said officers were in the area of Millar Crescent at about 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, when they noticed an individual known to be in breach of their court-ordered release conditions.

The woman was arrested and found to be in possession of suspected illicit substances, believed to be methamphetamine, cocaine and crack cocaine, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia and Canadian currency, said police.

She was charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime and three counts of failure to comply with a release order.

The accused was remanded into custody with a court appearance in Sioux Lookout scheduled for Tuesday.
