KENORA — A joint police investigation has netted a significant amount of suspected cocaine in a recent bust.
T3PS (Treaty Three Police Service) and OPP in Kenora worked together on a four-month investigation regarding the trafficking of illegal substances.
Two people were arrested during a traffic stop on May 16, according to an OPP news release issued Tuesday.
A 41-year-old woman from Grassy Narrows First Nation and a 37-year-old man from Winnipeg were arrested and face various drug-related charges.
During the investigation, police seized what is believed to be approximately 144 grams of cocaine, a small amount of Canadian cash, along with a vehicle.
Police estimate the street value of the seized drugs is $14,400.
Both individuals have been released pending future court appearances.
In a release, T3PS Superintendent Jeff Duggen said, "This operation underscores our commitment to combating drug trafficking and protecting our communities from the harmful effects of illicit substances.
"I commend the collaborative efforts of our Street Crime Unit and the Ontario Provincial Police - OCEB Kenora for their dedication and professionalism throughout this investigation."
Police did not release the names of the accused.
