Police charge teacher with sexual assault

WEBEQUIE – A 33-year-old resident of the Greater Toronto Area has been arrested and charged with sexual assault.

According to Nishnawbe Aski Police (NAPS), the man, who was a teacher in the community, was charged with sexually assaulting a person under 16 years of age or sexual exploitation.

He appeared in bail court on Feb. 29 and was released with conditions and a future appearance date.

The accused no longer resides in Webequie First Nation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
