FORT FRANCES — An outfitter on Lake of the Woods has been convicted of offences under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act for providing bear-hunting services without a licence.

The Ministry of Natural Resources released details of the case, saying it dates back to 2021 and 2022.

At a trial in Fort Frances earlier this year, the court was told Kenneth Vogan of Pelican Landing Resort in the Morson area provided services to non-resident hunters outside his licensed area.

He was fined a total of $10,000, and received a two-year suspension of his bear management area.

The MNR issues licenses to tourist operators for specific areas of Crown land in which they are permitted to provide bear-hunting services.
