DRYDEN - Back in March, the Ontario government removed licence plate renewal fees and licence plate stickers requirements for passenger vehicles, light-duty trucks, motorcycles and mopeds.

However, the public is still required to renew their plate, so police know that your vehicle's insurance is up-to-date.

Plate renewal is free of charge, and can be done online at: www.ontario.ca/page/renew-your-licence-plate

For the renewal process, you will need the following:

  • licence plate number
  • vehicle permit number
  • insurance company name and policy number
  • odometer reading
  • to pay any defaulted fines, tolls or fees

Driver's who fail to complete the renewals could be subject to a $110 fine under the Highway Traffic Act.
