ALBERTON TOWNSHIP – OPP Northwest Region is reporting a successful R.I.D.E program check stop on Highway 11.
On Wednesday night, a motor vehicle entered the check stop where officers with the Rainy River OPP Detachment administered a screening device.
During the stop, the officers determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.
The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the detachment where it was revealed the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus, according to the OPP.
As a result, a 44-year-old from Barwick was charged with impaired driving and failure to provide an insurance card.
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court in August.
