OPP lay charges in domestic assault case

Police allege the accused assaulted and threatened the victim.

DRYDEN — An incident of alleged domestic assault in the city of Dryden has led to multiple charges being laid by OPP.

Police released details of the case on Monday, saying officers responded to a call early Friday morning from a local residence.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 39-year-old suspect.

The individual is charged with assault causing bodily harm (spousal), uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (spousal), breaking into a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence, and possession of a controlled drug for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused has been held in custody pending an appearance in court in Kenora.

Police are withholding the name of the accused and the alleged victim in order to protect the victim's identity.
