LA VALLEE – On the evening of Aug. 11, Fort Frances OPP responded to a motor vehicle incident on Highway 611 near Kliner Road where they found a vehicle in a ditch.

OPP Northwest Region said officers determined the driver was impaired.

When questioning the driver,  officers learned that the vehicle was taken without consent and the driver also provided a false name.

Both the driver and passenger were arrested and transported to the detachment where a breath alcohol test determined the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.

As a result, a 23-year-old from Fort Frances was charged with impaired driving, obstruction, and taking a motor vehicle without consent.

The accused was held in custody and remanded to bail court on Aug. 13.

The passenger, a 27-year-old from Fort Frances, was charged with being the occupant of a motor vehicle taken without consent.

The passenger was released by police and is scheduled to appear in court in September.
