OPP Investigating Several Break and Enters Reported After Ice Out

KENORA – Police are investigating following several reports from cottage goers of break and enters that occurred sometime during the winter months. 

The Ontario Provincial Police said that members of the Kenora detachment, with the assistance of the Forensic Identifications Service, are investigating several break and enters occurring on islands near the City of Kenora. 

Police said that several owners returned to find their cottages had been entered and rummaged through. Owners report that stolen items including jewellery, alcohol and other personal items. 

Many owners continue to leave valuables as well as alcohol behind when closing for the season, and the OPP wish to remind everyone that when leaving for an extended period to take or secure valuables and alcohol.
