OPP investigate fatality in Wabigoon River

A male drowned after falling through the ice on Monday.

DRYDEN — One person is dead after an incident on the Wabigoon River in Dryden on Monday afternoon.

Ontario Provincial Police say a male fell through the ice just off Kellar Road.

Police, the Oxdrift Fire Team, the Dryden fire department and paramedics all responded, and an extensive search was conducted.

When the individual was located, he had drowned.

OPP are expected to release more information later in the day.
