Ontario Parks is reducing the maximum length for camping at some of the parks to allow access to more people.
As of next year during the peak summer season, the maximum length of stay will be decreased from 23 nights to seven or 14 nights at certain parks.
Northern Ontario parks limited to 14-night stays during peak season include Sleeping Giant, Quetico, Neys, Blue Lake, Rainbow Falls, Rushing River, Lake Superior, and Pancake Bay.
Parks with 23-night maximum stays include Kakabeka Falls, Silver Falls, and Sioux Narrows.
In a news release, Ontario Parks said overnight camping has grown from 4.3 million camper nights in 2014, to more than 6.6 million in 2021.
The peak period will apply to all stays between July 1 and the Saturday of the Labour Day long weekend.
