One person dead following a break and enter

A 14-year-old has been charged with break and enter and aggravated assault following a fatal incident in Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation last month.

DRYDEN -- Ontario Provincial Police have arrested and charged a teen following a break and enter that left one man dead.

According to an OPP release, Gregory George, 56, died in hospital after being seriously injured during a break and enter with violence at a residence in Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation on May 13, 2022.

 A 14-year-old from Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation was arrested May 27 and has been charged with break and enter and aggravated assault.

The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing and is on a number of conditions.

The young person is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on July 12, 2022.

Due to their age, the name of the accused cannot be released.

Members of the North West Region OPP and Treaty Three Police Service are continuing to investigate, under direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario. There is no concern for public safety at this time.
