One man taken into custody following an assault call

WABIGOON, Ont. – The Ontario Provincial Police is investigating an incident at a residence in Wabigoon, Zealand Township.

In a release Sunday evening, officers responded to an assault call shortly before 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 13.

Upon arrive on scene, police discovered an individual had barricaded themselves inside a residence with another individual.

As of 9 p.m. Sunday night, the roadway remained closed and members of the Dryden OPP, Northwest Region Crime Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and Crisis Negotiators were on scene working to peacefully resolve the situation.

Police say one male had been taken into custody without any injury reported.
