KENORA — A 22-year-old is facing an impaired driving charge after being stopped as part of an OPP-led RIDE program.
Officers with the Kenora detachment of the OPP were conducting the RIDE program on Norman Drive in Norman, Ont. A vehicle was stopped and through investigation, officers determined the driver had allegedly been consuming alcohol.
An approved screening device test was given and the driver failed the test.
The individual was arrested and taken to the Kenora detachment for further breath testing.
The 22-year-old driver from Rat Portage First Nation was charged with operation while impaired and having a blood alcohol concentration above zero while being a novice driver.
A 90-day licence suspension was also issued and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused has been released from custody and has a future court date next month in Kenora.
