KENORA—Early childhood tooth decay prevention is the highlight of a program for First Nations children offered by Northwestern Health Unit.

The NWHU Children’s Oral Health Initiative (COHI) is one that focuses on early childhood tooth decay prevention for First Nations children ages 0-7. According to them, COHI, “promotes oral health by preventing toot decay, treating and restoring decayed teeth, and providing education to improve oral health-related behaviour.

Their COHI program aims at reducing the number of First Nations children that require general Anesthesia for dental surgeries.
