DRYDEN—It has been over two years into the pandemic, and people and communities across Ontario have seen the mental health impacts of anxiety, stress, and burn out, rise to its highest level. With the Canadian government offering funding and investing in more mental health resources, and mental health professionals, and workers, the need for help by, so many is still evident.
Among the list of crucial mental health workers and professionals are the many social workers who offer help daily to so many individuals with mental health concerns and their impact on their daily lives.
Social workers have been a big part of the partners and health care professional who provide the resources, guidance and help that so many who suffer from mental health issues, need. Social workers work in organizations, corporations, community services, and in many of our schools. So many of our students have been faced with the constant changing daily world of education; with the demands of transitioning from in-person to at-home learning at numerous times during the school year. Certainly, the affect of the pandemic has and continues to impact on everyone's daily life.
Northwest Catholic District School Board took the time recently to recognize and thank the hard and dedicated work that Social Workers do in their schools. They remind us that Ontario’s Registered Social Workers were here for us before COVID-19 and they are here for us now.
March 7-13, 2022, is Social Work week. NWCDSB wishes to celebrate this week and every week the Social Workers and Child and Youth Workers who support their students, families and community.
