New director of education for the Keewatin Patricia District School Board

The Keewatin Patricia District School Board has appointed a new director of education who will start on Sept. 6.

NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO -- The Keewatin Patricia District School Board has appointed Christy Radbourne as the director of education. Radbourne will start her new role on Sept. 6.

With more than 20 years of experience in public sector education, Radbourne most recently was a student achievement officer with the Ministry of Education. She has served as an administrator at Lakehead Public School Board for 11 years, which included stints as principal of Ogden Community School and Valley Central Public School.

“I am both humbled and honoured to join the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board and continue the excellent work and leadership of staff, improving achievement and well-being for every student,” said Radbourne. “I look forward to working with our communities and Indigenous partners to increase opportunities and positive outcomes.”

Radbourne holds a Master of Education from Lakehead University and is working towards her PhD in a joint program administered by LU, Brock University, and the University of Windsor.

She previously has sought elected office, running as the Green Party Candidate for Thunder Bay-Rainy River in 2015 and seeking the nomination for Liberal Party for the same riding in 2019.
