CAT LAKE – Police in Cat Lake First Nation have arrested four people and seized drugs and cash in a recent raid earlier this month.

According to a release issued by Nishnawbe Aski Police Service, officers from the intelligence unit and emergency response team, along with officers in the community, executed a search warrant at a residential address in the early hours of June 11.

It was the result of an ongoing investigation and led to the seizure of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, nearly $25,000 in cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

A 27-year-old Winnipeg man, a 28-year-old woman from Cat Lake First Nation, a 34-year-old man from Cat Lake First Nation and a 35-year-old woman from Cat Lake First Nation were charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The Winnipeg man has remanded into custody after a bail court appearance and the other three suspects were released with conditions and future court dates.

It is Newswatch policy not to name suspects in cases in which it is unlikely we will follow it through to its conclusion in court.
