SANDY LAKE – After a 44-year-old from Winnipeg failed to appear in court, Nishnaawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) issued a bench warrant for the individual's arrest.

According to NAPS, the individual was supposed to be in court for a Feb. 20 incident where the suspect was found unconscious inside a vehicle.

When police arrived, NAPS officers found a quantity of suspected cocaine, oxycodone, codeine, xanax, clonazepam, suboxone, a large knife, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

As a result, the individual is charged with six counts of drug trafficking, possession of a dangerous weapon, and possession of paraphernalia obtained by crime.

The accused has since been released with conditions and a court appearance date.
