Municipality of Red Lake welcomes new fire chief

Dryden Fire Chief Chris Wood was very happy to introduce the Municipality of Red Lake to their new fire chief, Dexter Hupe.

DRYDEN—Chief Chris Wood, fire chief for the City of Dryden Fire Service, was pleased to introduce and congratulate, Captain Dexter Hupe on his new position as Fire Chief of the Municipality of Red Lake.

Wood shared some of Hupe’s background highlighting how he first joined the Dryden Fire Service in March 2018 as a firefighter in the Work Experience program.

Later, Dexter Hupe was hired in a permanent full-time capacity in January 2020 as the training officer for Dryden Fire Service and was promoted to captain in 2021.

Dryden fire chief, Wood spoke about how important a role Hupe has played in the training and certification of other members. “Dexter has played a vital role in the training and certification of our members and, over his 4.5 years of tenure, has made Dryden and Dryden Fire Service the place he called home.”

Wood expressed his gratitude to Hupe, who he believes demonstrated support and dedication to the training of their team. “We are incredibly grateful for Dexter’s dedication to training our team, assisting our team in keeping the City of Dryden safe.”

Wood congratulated Red Lake’s new fire chief and wished him the best as he began his journey, in the capacity as fire chief.
