DRYDEN — Ontario Provincial Police laid criminal charges against three drivers in the last month for dangerous driving on Highway 17.

OPP said all the incidents involved motorists executing what they described as high-risk passing manoeuvres.

The charges stemmed from separate incidents in which drivers attempted to pass other vehicles on the crests of hills or around corners, "creating hazardous conditions and forcing oncoming motorists to take evasive action to avoid collisions."

Two of the individuals charged were operating tractor-trailer units.

They were a 20-year-old Winnipeg resident and a 57-year-old individual from Edmonton.

The third motorist was a 26-year-old Winnipeg resident driving a passenger vehicle.

All three were released from custody pending a future appearance in court.
