FORT FRANCES—To support the health and safety of the public affected by recent flooding, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, Fort Frances District Office has set up a call line.
This call line is dedicated specifically to address inquiries or concerns from people living in unorganized territories related to the current flooding situation in the region.
They offered guidelines as to what these residents can do, should they have experiencing rising water due to a flood, and to take the following precautions:
- avoid travelling on roads that are near any bodies of water
- don’t drive through, stand or walk in any moving water
- if you must walk through floodwater, look for still water and use a stick to check the ground in front of you
- keep children and pets away from floodwater
- avoid using the plumbing system if the septic tank or the disposal field is underwater
The Municipality of Fort Frances offered a link to assist these residents with further information. This link outlines specific detail as to what should be done after a flood and before returning home.
