Mine supplier launches 'showcase trailer'

TransWest's 'showcase trailer' is coming to Rainy River, Dryden and Thunder Bay's Marina Park.

THUNDER BAY – The guys at TransWest Process Solutions really get around. In a “showcase trailer.”

Displaying a variety of cutting-edge products, the TransWest showcase trailer has been to Marathon on Superior’s north shore and will be in Rainy River soon. And then Dryden.

Before that, you could check it out at Thunder Bay’s Marina Park on Saturday, which is Mining Day.

The trailer “allows us to bring the best of our products and services directly to our customers,” said TransWest president Greg Troilo.

Thunder Bay–Atikokan MPP Kevin Holland attended the trailer’s “official launch” recently.

He was invited to because “we feel like Kevin and his role in the region has really exemplified showing that Thunder Bay is a hub for mining,” said Ryan Gagnon, TransWest’s business development manager.

Holland, associate minister of forestry and forest products, said he was impressed by what TransWest has put together.

“Congratulations to TransWest for taking this on and putting this together and out on the road, really showcasing what they’re able to provide to the industries here across the North,” he said.

“I think it’s fantastic (that) they’re partnering with other companies, other businesses here in the city, and really showcasing the talent of the businesses that exist here in Thunder Bay.”

Products on display inside the trailer include power supplies and switches with instrumentation, and various other things to facilitate safety in mining.

Gagnon said the mobile platform brings what TransWest has to offer the mining sector directly to the field, enabling clients to experience first-hand how these advanced technologies can enhance their operations.

Troilo “has had this idea for about 10 to 15 years, to develop basically a travelling showcase of our products,” Gagnon said.

The trailer’s maiden voyage was a short trip to last year’s Central Canada Resource Expo in Thunder Bay.

“We kind of got it together with some help from other local companies and today we’ve really started kicking off with being able to bring it to mine sites,” Gagnon said.

He was quick to add that the trailer’s contents are of interest to more than mining operations. They’re relevant to water treatment and mill operations too, he said.

“We’ve actually already had a site visit in Marathon at the (local) gold mine, and we have it scheduled in the Rainy River (district) and at Dryden Fibre.”
