IGNACE — A visitor’s suspicious questions have led to an arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle, Ontario Provincial Police said Wednesday.

An Ignace business told the OPP that at about 10 a.m. Tuesday an individual asked an employee if licence plate recognition cameras could detect a stolen vehicle, the police said in a news release.

Members of the Dryden and Ignace OPP detachments located the suspect vehicle on Highway 17 near Ignace, conducted a traffic stop, and confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen.

A 23-year-old from of Waterloo, Ont., has been arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and driving while suspended.

He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Ignace on Dec. 6.

The allegations have not been tested in court.
