Manitoba man faces impaired driving charges

A 23-year-old is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic stop.

RED LAKE -- An evening traffic stop has a Stonewall, MB, resident facing impaired driving charges.

Officers from the Red Lake and Ear Falls Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police initiated a traffic stop Sept. 6 around 8:40 p.m. on a motor vehicle along Hammell Road, within the Municipality of Red Lake.

Through investigation, it was determined the operator of the motor vehicle was showing signs of impairment and the officer made a demand for a Standard Field Sobriety Test.

Police say the driver performed poorly, was placed under arrest, and returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old of Stonewall, MB, was charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs.

He was released by way of undertaking for Red Lake court on Oct. 20, 2022 to answer to the charges.
