UPDATE: Anicinabe Park office set on fire in Kenora

The municipality is advising the public to stay away from the area after someone set fire to the Anicinabe Park office.

KENORA – According to the Municipality of Kenora's Facebook page, the city is asking the public to stay away from the Anicinabe Park office and use alternative routes as much as possible while emergency crews and officers are working to resolve the incident.

Several Facebook users, including social media influencer KimDoes807, have posted photos of the fire. Commenters are alluding to what they believe was a man wielding knives - who poured gasoline on himself before setting fire to the store.

Allegedly, shots were fired by police and the man was airlifted to hospital for his injuries.

The city said until further notice, the public beach, boat launch and park area are closed.

UPDATE:

The OPP has confirmed that the Special Investigation Unit has invoked its mandate concerning the incident at Anicinabe Park.

"One person suffered injuries and was transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS)," stated OPP Northwest Region.

As a result of this investigation, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information.
