Man charged after officer allegedly assaulted

The accused has been released from custody and is expected to appear in a Kenora court next month

KENORA — A 20-year-old faces an assault charge after allegedly assaulting an OPP officer in Kenora last week.

Provincial police said an officer was dealing with a matter on Sylvain Street on Thursday afternoon and had been assaulted while trying to assist someone.

The individual was placed under arrest.

A 20-year-old from Naotkamegwanning First Nation Territory is charged with one count of assaulting a peace officer.

The accused has been released from custody and is expected to appear in a Kenora court next month.
