Man charged after allegedly assaulting manager of downtown Kenora business

KENORA — A 25-year-old was arrested after allegedly attempting to attack the manager of a downtown business with a knife.

Provincial police said officers were called to a business on the 300 block of Second Street South on Thursday evening for reports of an assault.

Police had been told that a man had attacked the manager of the business and they were fighting outside. Police said they were told the suspect had left and returned, and tried to attack the manager with a knife before leaving a second time.

Responding officers found the suspect nearby.

The accused — 25-year-old Kelvin Meekis of Kenora — is charged with assault with a weapon and failure to comply with a probation order.
