SIOUX LOOKOUT — OPP have charged a 21-year-old man with failure to comply with a prohibition order regarding children.

Police said they were called to the town beach in Sioux Lookout on Friday evening following reports of multiple intoxicated persons in the area.

When officers arrived, one individual fled and attempted to evade them.

Further investigation revealed this person is bound by an order forbidding him to attend any public park or public swimming area where youth under 16 could reasonably be expected to be.

OPP said this kind of order is imposed by a court to protect children from sexual violence, and that breaching it may result in prison time and/or fines.

The resident of North Caribou Lake First Nation was arrested and remanded into custody pending a bail hearing Wednesday.
