RED LAKE — The use of automated licence plate recognition software led police to make a traffic stop that led to the discovery of an impaired driver.

Provincial police said on April 28, the software notified officers that the owner of a vehicle was a suspended driver, leading to a traffic stop on Hughes Crescent.

Further investigation determined the driver was impaired by alcohol.

A 19-year-old from Slate Falls is charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of driving a vehicle without a licence.

As well, a passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of suspected oxycodone. A 47-year-old from Slate Falls is charged with one count of drug possession.

Another individual, a 45-year-old from Slate Falls, is charged with failure to comply with a release order.
