NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO — Officers with the Treaty Three Police Service responded to significantly fewer calls last week than the week before.

During the reported time period of June 9 to 15, officers responded to 321 calls for service. That's a 31 per cent decrease from the previous week

These calls reflect a combination of urgent response, community support, and proactive policing.

Of the reported incidents, property checks (83), community services (41) and conducting R.I.D.E. programs (36) were all proactive by officers in the communities.

These numbers represent priority categories and common types of calls, not all incidents, which may include lower-risk or administrative calls, according to the T3PS media release.

T3PS is a self-administered policing entity under the First Nations Policing Program in Canada, responsible for full policing duties within the Treaty #3 territory.

The service has six detachments and polices 22 First Nations communities across Northwestern Ontario.
