NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO — OPP reported a significant decrease in recorded incidents.

Compared to the previous reporting period, calls for service dropped by 31 per cent, with a total of 1,180 calls recorded.

Top reasons for calls include eTickets, police assistance and Liquor Control Act violations across all five of the OPP's regions of Dryden, Kenora, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, and Rainy River.

The Dryden detachment took the lead in charges laid, with 112 , including 28 criminal charges and 84 Highway Traffic Act charges. Kenora followed close behind, with 103 total charges being laid during this timeframe.

The OPP is reminding the public about its online reporting system, which allows citizens to self—report minor incidents and crimes, providing an alternative to having an officer attend the scene.
