NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO — OPP calls for service went down during for the service during its most recent reporting period.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to 1,702 calls for the week of April 21 to 27, which is a 21 per cent decrease compared to the previous week's reported incidents.

Officers attended to calls for the communities of Kenora, Dryden, Rainy River, Sioux Lookout, and Red Lake, and the OPP responded to the most calls for service, including e-Tickets, Liquor License Control Act calls, and unwanted persons.

Both Dryden and Rainy River reported the highest number of eTickets issued last week were for eTickets, 126 and 62 were issued respectively.

Officers laid hundreds of charges during this period as well.

A total of 468 charges were laid across the region, with the most coming from Dryden, as officers laid 166 Highway Traffic Act charges and 9 criminal charges.

The OPP is reminding the public about its online reporting system — citizen self-reporting — which can be used as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for minor incidents and crimes.
