Last day to vote at an advance poll

The federal election is April 28.
Thunder Bay Rainy River Returning Office

THUNDER BAY— Electors hoping to vote early have until 9 p.m. to cast their ballot at an advance polling location.

Advance polls have been open over the long weekend, ending Monday evening.

"I think the turnout has been the highest we've seen in a long time," said Kevin O’Donnell, the returning officer for Thunder Bay Rainy River, "although the actual statistics aren't available yet."

Monday is not quite the last chance to vote before election day on April, said O'Donnell. It is possible to vote by special ballot at any returning office from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Tuesday. There are three returning offices in the region, two in Thunder Bay and one in Kenora, as well as additional offices in Dryden, Sioux Lookout and Red Lake.

Proof of address and identity are required to vote both in advance and on election day. All Canadian citizens aged 18 and up are eligible to vote.

Accessibility services are also available to anyone who might otherwise be unable to vote.

Anyone who is unable to vote in person, whether at advance voting location or at an assigned location on election day, can apply to vote by mail before Tuesday at 6 p.m.

For both advance polls and on election day, voters must go to the correct polling station for their address.

Detailed information on how and where to vote is available from Elections Canada at elections.ca or by calling 1-800-463-6868.
