SIOUX LOOKOUT – Following a media release from Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) regarding a possible case of measles in Sioux Lookout, laboratory test results revealed the infant has not been infected by measles.

Sandra Krikke, manager of infectious diseases at NWHU, said “there is currently no known risk of measles in the community. We appreciate everyone’s quick responses and diligence during this situation.”

NWHU advises that anyone isolating or monitoring after possible exposure can discontinue these measures.

Those due for a measles vaccine can contact NWHU or their health-care provider to make an appointment.
