KENORA – The Kenora Recreation Centre and Kenora Rowing Club will see some critical upgrades in the near future.

The government on Wednesday announced it will be investing $3.6 million in the Kenora Recreation Centre and more than $121,000 in the Kenora Rowing Club to support upgrades.

These upgrades will turn these facilities into more effective spaces, capable of hosting higher-profile events and supporting more community members.

Families in Kenora will benefit greatly from these exciting investments for our community,” said Greg Rickford, MPP for Kenora—Rainy River. “Not only will this funding expand recreation facilities so people can get active – it will make the Kenora Rowing Club a more attractive destination for hosting future provincial and national tournaments. We welcome new opportunities to invite competitors to enjoy what Kenora has to offer and help our tourism economy thrive.

Our government continues to support communities across Ontario through investments in local infrastructure projects,” said the Honourable Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure. “The Kenora Recreation Centre and Kenora Rowing Club upgrades will provide high-quality recreation opportunities. Supporting meaningful projects in Kenora will make a positive difference to the families and individuals who live in the community by protecting their health and well-being, while also creating local jobs that will help stimulate economic recovery.

The Kenora Recreation Centre is an essential part of our vibrant, healthy and active community,” said Daniel Reynard, Mayor of the City of Kenora. “The planned improvements inside the facility along with the significant investment in the baseball diamonds and tennis courts will positively impact the lifespan of our recreation facility and amenities and enhance the quality of life we all enjoy. We are grateful to have this provincial funding support and are excited to start these major upgrades.
