Kenora pair charged with drug and property crimes

A 41-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man will be back in court on Sept. 22 to answer to the charges after a Rupert Street incident on Wednesday.

KENORA -- A pair of Kenora residents face drug and property crime charges following an OPP investigation.

According to an OPP release, a 41-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man were arrested after a break-and-enter at a Kenora residence. Police say they were called to a home on Rupert Road in Kenora on Aug. 17 just after 1:30 p.m.

Police say the suspect fled prior to officers arriving on scene, but their vehicle was located a short time later during a traffic stop on Ninth Street.

The two accused were placed under arrest and during the course of the subsequent investigation, officers located and seized suspected illegal substances, includng methamphetamine and cocaine. Officers also seized cash and other items believed to be associated with drug trafficking.

The pair was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, break and enter into a dwelling house and possession of property obtained by crime.

Both accused will appear in court on Sept. 22 in Kenora.
