KENORA — A provincial police officer in Kenora has been charged with obtaining sexual services for consideration and breach of trust.

Ontario Provincial Police on Tuesday announced the charges had been laid against 50-year-old Const. James Clark following a nearly year-long investigation.

In a brief news release, police said the OPP's criminal investigations branch began investigating last November after allegations were made in October 2021 about inappropriate behaviour by an off-duty officer involving an adult person.

Police said Clark is a 20-year member of the OPP and had been assigned to court services-related duties with the Kenora detachment since 2015.

He is currently on leave.

Clark has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in a Kenora courtroom at a later date.
