KENORA, Ont. — Ontario Provincial Police brought a successful conclusion to an alleged parental abduction case that originated in British Columbia.

RCMP in BC issued an Amber Alert on Saturday over fears for the safety of a mother and two children from Fort St. John.

The woman, a four-year-old and a 10-month-old were believed to have been taken forcibly from their residence a couple of days earlier by the children's father.

After an inter-provincial Amber Alert was issued, Kenora OPP set up a patrol and stopped an eastbound SUV on Highway 17 at about 6:30 pm.

The mom and her children were said to be safe and receiving support.

The male driver of the vehicle was taken into custody pending completion of the investigation, but RCMP said charges are pending.
