A new waterfront pavilion as part of Kenora's downtown revitalization efforts has lured more outdoor events and keyed new tourism and hospitality-related development in the core.

KENORA—The Mayor of Kenora officially invites everyone to Kenora. “With the community events and economic development initiatives planned, there will be so much for everyone to take in”, stated Mayor Daniel Reynard.

The Municipality recently launched their 2022 Glad You Are Here Campaign, by hosting a banner cutting ceremony to welcome Kenora residents, seasonal residents, neighbouring communities and visitors to the community.

The mayor spoke about the work that the Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce has done over the last two years to organize the Open Air Street Markets on Main Street. “The city is taking the lead on these events for 2022 and will be hosting two markets on July 16 and Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” said Reynard.

It is said that the markets will be host to local and regional vendors and merchants, live music, a children’s activity area along with food and beverage offerings for all ages. The event is free to the public and is a great way to spend a summer afternoon in downtown Kenora.

The municipality called out to interested businesses wanting to book a table for this event by completing our Kenora Main Street Market form before July 9, 2022.

In addition, the city is pleased to announce and promote the Harbour friends Downtown Ambassador Program, modelled after similar initiatives in Winnipeg, Kelowna and Calgary. The municipality describes the purpose of this initiative as one,”To deliver an on-street presence in the Harbour town centre, provide visitors and residents with information, refer to support services to those in need, and connect with businesses.”
