KENORA – Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation is unveiling a new version of its 50/50 draw, with new prizes, ticket packages and easy-to-remember deadlines.
According to a release issued on Monday, the upgraded draw builds on past campaigns, but incorporates changes that make playing easier and more rewarding.
“Our supporters have helped us grow this 50/50 into something truly impactful for our community, with nearly $2 million awarded since 2020,” said Mira Trebilcock, executive director, Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation, in a release issued on Monday.
“We’re excited for our supporters to experience new and exciting ways to win, all while supporting the biggest winner of all – healthcare close to home at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.”
The hospital foundation has used the funds to purchase new equipment for the hospital, including a chemistry analyzer that provides quick information about tissue and fluid samples.
It’s also been put toward the Beyond the Scan campaign, which aims to fund an MRI machine for the hospital, a first for Kenora.
Ticket prices for the new draw are as low as 10 cents a ticket, there are new bonus draws and a growing jackpot size.
Hospital foundations in Northwestern Ontario have turned to 50/50 draws in recent years as ways to raise much needed capital. The Thunder Bay 50/50 draw routinely tops $1 million each month and the Dryden 50/50 has topped $100,000 a month.
