KENORA – After an extensive recruiting period, the City of Kenora has found a new staff member to fill the director of finance position.
After 20-plus years with the City of Kenora, current director of finance Charlotte Edie will retire after 20-plus years of service. Edie leaves a lasting legacy of prudent financial leadership, and the city is in a strong financial position as a result of her hard work and dedication.
Ryan Marsh brings a unique vision to the department with the credentials to aid the city in modernizing its overall financial services.
Marsh joins the City of Kenora from the City of Winnipeg where he has gained more than 20 years of public administration experience and 15 years of financial leadership in a municipal setting.
“I look forward to joining the City of Kenora as a member of the senior leadership team, supporting Administration and Council to provide a high quality of life for residents,” states Marsh.
As director of finance, Marsh will use his skills to effectively plan the city’s finances for future projects while also being responsible for roles of administration, systems management, investing, and reporting as well as carrying out the statutory duties of the city treasurer in accordance with the Municipal Act.
Chief administrative officer Kyle Attanasio states, “Ryan brings a wealth of municipal experience as a demonstrated proactive change leader that fosters a team environment. He has an innovative approach to financial management, with creative strategies to meet the changing demands of a municipality. Ryan’s experience, combined with his proactive approach will ensure the city’s finances remain closely safeguarded for years to come. We are thrilled to have Ryan join our team here in Kenora.”
Marsh and his family have deep roots in the Kenora area, calling Kenora has been his year-round home away from home for many years. Mrash is eager to give back to the city and be part of its future growth and success.
Marsh starts with the City on Aug. 8 which will allow for a transition period with the retiring director of finance.
