KENORA - Kenora councillor Rory McMillian was set to retire after fulfilling his obligations to Kenora’s city council.

But instead, he’ll be taking on a new role on English Public School Board as a Trustee after the municipal election.

The position was vacant after the nomination period closed on Aug. 19, but because there was one spot open, the nomination period was extended to Aug. 24 for potential applicants.

With McMillian filling the English Public School Board Trustee position, the three candidates, McMillian, Robert Kitowski, and Dave Cornish were acclaimed as trustees.

The municipal election will take place on October 24.
