KENORA—The City of Kenora is proud of the efforts of its residents, and their recycling habits.

On Thursday, the city congratulated the community on an outstanding environmental achievement.

According to the city, the community was able to translate their recycling habits into so many great environment benefits, which helped everyone come together and accomplish the following:

  • 17,962 mature trees were saved
  • 151,024 bathtubs of water was saved
  • 91 cars off the road carbon dioxide emission was reduced
  • 273 households of energy was saved
  • 4,993 bins of garbage were diverted from their landfill

Residents who wish to learn more about “What Goes Where” in order to recycle items properly and efficiently, they can download the city’s free “Recycle Coach APP or go to: https://www.kenora.ca/en/living-here/recycling.aspx

This search tool gives residents access to their neighbourhood’s schedule for curbside recycle pick-up, where to put the waste items, and other resources to help make recycling easier.

The City of Kenora demonstrated how its community can successfully make Earth Day an everyday celebration.
