KENORA—With the month of June internationally recognized as Pride Month, the students under the Keewatin-Patricia School Board, were encouraged to come together and recognize the significance of Pride Month.
Like so many schools across Canada, Keewatin-Patricia schools raised their own Pride Flag. But for the board, directing their school community to important information and past history was also an important goal.
The shared the message that, “It is important to promote and recognize Pride Month as it honours past history and future advocacy related to civil rights and gender diversity."
As a key resource for all of their students, the board shared a link for staff and families to visit. That is the Egale Canada website - https://egale.ca/
On it, it demonstrates Egale’s mission, which is is “To improve the lives of LGBTQI2S people in Canada and to enhance the global response to LGBTQI2S issues.”
